Accessibility statement
Last updated: 7 August 2026
This statement applies to the website at muirendpharmacy.co.uk. It does not cover the separate booking tool, which is described below.
Our commitment
Muirend Pharmacy is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, need larger text, or find movement on screen difficult.
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA — the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. As a private pharmacy we are not covered by the public sector accessibility regulations, but we have chosen to work to the same standard, and we have duties under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people.
How we assessed this site
This statement is based on a self-assessment carried out on 7 August 2026 by the team who built the site, reviewing the site's code and content against WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
No independent third-party accessibility audit has been carried out. We have not commissioned an external specialist, and we have not run a full test with assistive technology users. We would rather say that plainly than imply a level of testing we have not done. We intend to commission an independent audit, and we will update this statement with the findings when we do.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML throughout, with a single main heading per page and a logical heading order
- A "Skip to main content" link as the first item on every page
- The page language is declared as
en-GB - Meaningful alternative text on images that carry information; decorative images are hidden from screen readers
- All navigation, buttons, links and form fields can be reached and used with a keyboard alone
- Visible focus outlines, and touch targets sized to at least 44 by 44 pixels
- Every form field has a visible label that is properly linked to it, plus autocomplete hints so browsers can fill in your details
- Text and background colours were chosen to meet the AA contrast ratios
- No information is conveyed by colour alone
- Content reflows for small screens and for zoom up to 400%, without side-to-side scrolling
- Animation and movement are reduced or removed if your device is set to "reduce motion"
- Nothing on the site flashes more than three times a second
- The booking window can be closed with the Escape key and keeps keyboard focus inside it while open
- The menu on small screens also closes with the Escape key, moves focus to the first menu item when it opens, and puts focus back on the menu button when it closes
- The looping video of our Pharmaself24 machine has a pause button, so you can stop the movement at any time — and it is replaced by a still photograph if your device is set to "reduce motion"
- The cookie notice is fully keyboard operable, with equally prominent accept and reject buttons
Known issues
These are the problems we found in our own review on 7 August 2026. We are listing everything we know about, including things we have not fixed yet. Two issues from that review — the mobile menu's keyboard handling, and the missing pause control on the Pharmaself24 video — have since been fixed, and are described under "What we have done" above.
1. Form errors rely on your browser's built-in messages
Our prescription request and Pharmaself24 forms use the browser's own validation to flag missing or incorrect fields. How clearly that is announced varies between browsers and screen readers, and we do not currently provide our own error summary or mark invalid fields programmatically.
May fail: WCAG 3.3.1 Error Identification and 3.3.3 Error Suggestion (Level A/AA). Planned fix: add an accessible error summary, link errors to their fields, and announce them in a live region.
2. Parts we do not control
One thing on this site is supplied by another company and has not been independently assessed for accessibility: the online booking tool, provided by DigiPharma, which opens in its own window when you choose to book.
We have asked our supplier about their accessibility conformance. If it stops you completing something, please call us on 0141 637 2014 and we will do it for you.
Our forms no longer use a visual anti-spam challenge. There is no puzzle, image or distorted text to solve, and nothing extra for you to do — the check happens invisibly in the background.
3. Not yet tested with assistive technology users
We have not yet tested this site with people who use screen readers, magnification or voice control day to day. Until we have, there may be barriers we have not found.
If something is not accessible to you
You never have to use this website to get our services. If any part of it stops you doing something, contact us and a member of our team will help you directly — by phone, or in the pharmacy.
- Phone: 0141 637 2014
- Online: our contact page
- In person: 521–523 Clarkston Road, Muirend, Glasgow, G44 3PN
We can also provide information in other formats, such as large print, on request.
Reporting an accessibility problem
We want to know when something does not work. Please tell us what you were trying to do, which page you were on, and what happened. If you use a screen reader or other assistive technology, telling us which one helps us reproduce the problem.
We aim to acknowledge your report within 5 working days and give you a full response within 20 working days. If a fix will take longer, we will tell you when to expect it and offer another way to get what you need in the meantime.
If you are not happy with our response
If we do not respond, or you are not satisfied with what we say, you can raise it through our complaints procedure.

Keeping this statement up to date
We review this statement whenever we make a significant change to the site, and at least once a year. We will update it as soon as any of the issues above are fixed, and when an independent audit has been completed.
